Pittwater RSL – Rooftop Car Park to Pickleball Courts
When Pittwater RSL Club wanted to make better use of an underused rooftop car park, Synthetic Sports Group (SSG) was engaged to turn the space into a modern, high-quality pickleball facility.

What We Did
First, we removed all the old car park infrastructure — including bollards, wheel stops and linemarking.
Next, we carefully prepared the concrete slab. This involved grinding off old coatings, checking the surface levels with flood testing, and repairing low spots to make sure the courts would be flat, safe and consistent to play on.
We then installed a premium Laykold Advantage acrylic surface system across approximately 1,100m². This included priming, multiple coloured topcoats, and professional line marking to create five dedicated pickleball courts.
The club selected a vibrant three-tone colour scheme to clearly define playing areas and give the rooftop a real “tournament” feel. We completed the project with the supply and installation of five fixed pickleball posts and nets — ready for play.
The Result
What was once an unused rooftop car park is now a popular, modern sporting space that members actively enjoy.
For club committees, this project shows what’s possible: with the right preparation and surface system, even challenging spaces can be transformed into high-performing, revenue-generating facilities.
